From Arlington, Glenn sets off down I 20 towards Shreveport
The pictorial record does not include Dallas traffic. Glenn was heard to say “I’ve not been so scared since
I set out,” and I think we can leave it at that.
Sonc may do a good line in burgers, but Glenn goes for the shakes. The calories help keep the pedals turning
At first glance, I thought these were longhorns
But now I’m not at all sure
What’s the difference between antiques and junk?
Are you buying or selling?
It’s been a long day. Traffic conditions and weather made it tougher. Glenn decides he needs to stop and pulls into Canton to find a room.
Instead, he finds a big convention, and every room is taken. Well not quite all - there is one last-minute cancellation which Glenn can have at the convention rate - $160 for the night. This is pure gravy for the hotel as the room was pre-paid with no refund, but they’re not prepared to offer Glenn any concessions. With funds running low, Glenn feels he has little choice but to press on to Van,
In Van, about an hour and a half and seventeen weary miles later, the sole hotel has rooms available. Because of the convention, they are also charging a premium rate, but it’s bearable. So Glenn spends the night in Van, where, with no Internet access, he is forced to do little more than eat and sleep. But maybe that’s just as well.
